Dec. 12th Theme: The Occupation of Palestine and Black Queer Solidarity

Black Women Radicals panel on Black Feminist Writers and Palestine provided great context to continue the conversation on not only Palestine, but all of the occupations and genocides that we are watching. There is lots to unpack from that particular panel, but one thing that has stayed on my mind is how the injustice parallels many of our lives. We wanted to start gathering as a Black queer feminists, and unpack some of the thoughts and sentiments raised during the panel. The panel left me questions and I wanted to revisit some of those questions to frame the theme.

Reflection Questions

  1. what are the barriers to developing an intersectional, global praxis?

  2. what readings can we center from afro-Palestinians? from feminist afro-Palestinians?

  3. what are the parallels with the current occupation and black queerness related to the political and social climate in the states? (examples - anti trans bills, 4 black trans women were murdered during the month of October, etc)

  4. what other questions can we ask ourselves?

Panel from October 22nd, 2023, from Black Women Radicals on Black feminist writers and Palestine
