Diversity Equity Inclusion

When organizations establish their values around diversity, equity, and inclusion, they create safe spaces for learning, growth, and healing to take root. At Red Linen Moon Consulting, we provide the supportive nudge needed to move organizations from a DEI concept to full implementation. Most importantly, we offer feedback and tools to ground the work in reflection.

Diversity

Diversity is the acknowledgement that multiple identities exist within a group. Furthermore, it is honoring how each of those identities contributes to the group. Diversity should be a living, breathing core value in every part of the organization. From policies, to practices, to the distribution of resources, the success of every activity should be measured by how it impacts the entire community.

Equity

Equity is the intentional practice of providing fair treatment. When there is an organizational standard for fairness, people feel more committed and invested in the mission. RLM works with organizations to establish equitable practices and accountability systems, so that everyone has a voice.

Inclusion

Inclusion is the consistent practice of making sure that all individuals feel seen and heard. RLM helps organizations assess their effectiveness in this area, and create plans to promote a more inclusive environment. In doing so, an organization can create a strong sustainable culture of inclusion that funnels down into its most important work.

Areas of Focus

Acknowledging

Recognizing that identity affects group and community dynamics.

Highlighting Marginalized Individuals

Integrating history and culture with mission and goals.

Shifting Power

Flattening top-down hierarchies to create a community of shared perspectives and expertise.

Values

My approach is based upon a combination of experiences, both clinical and organizational. These experiences have allowed me to see first hand how power structures affect change from boardrooms, to classrooms, to social services. Organizations have a responsibility to cultivate change from within. Through assessment, I guide clients through the process of identifying issues that are most detrimental to the health and growth of the organization. Often these issues arise unnoticed, and are in direct conflict with the organization’s mission and goals. I help organization members learn how to name and address these conflicts in a holistic way that honors everyone within the space, and beyond.
